About Us

The story so far

Saturday night, the height of summer 2017, Retro Future Fest at Styx in Tottenham, the festival crew all donning the first run of Retro Future Fest staff T Shirts, gets heaps of compliments from lovers of the scene wanting to know where they could get their very own, so what happens? Fast forward to summer 2018, Retro Future Fest 2 comes back twice as big as their first event with a run of 50 T Shirts for sale on the merch stand, one hour after opening and the T-Shirts are sold out! A few smaller events and another Festival later and the team decide to make it their mission to share their love of Retro Futurism with an exciting new brand of Retro Future Clothing.

This is how Retro Future Clothing founders Billy and Tim, alongside a team of dedicated Retro Fans, kicked off the Retro Future Apparel Innovation!

Who are we?

At Retro Future Clothing we are a team of more than a few fellow retro enthusiasts who are still inspired by all things retro and old-school. And we’re talking super old-school. Where movie nights are made for re-watching 80s cult classics (BRING BACK VIDEO SHOPS), Mornings were spent trying to bunk off school so we could carry on watching the best in retro cartoons (you know we’re talking ‘He-Man’,’Transformers’ and ‘Thundercats’ amongst many more) and the weekends down the Arcade playing Pacman listening to the best in 80s choons amongst a field of Neon signs.

What is Retro Futurism?

We’ve saved you a trip to wikipedia! If you’re unfamiliar with the term and its meaning, have a read below.

Retrofuturism (adjective retrofuturistic or retrofuture) is a movement in the creative arts showing the influence of depictions of the Future produced in an earlier era. If futurism is sometimes called a “science” bent on anticipating what will come, retrofuturism is the remembering of that anticipation. Characterized by a blend of old-fashioned “retro styles” with futuristic technology, retrofuturism explores the themes of tension between past and future, and between the alienating and empowering effects of technology. Primarily reflected in artistic creations and modified technologies that realize the imagined artifacts of its parallel reality, retrofuturism can be seen as “an animating perspective on the world”. However, it has also manifested in the worlds of fashion, architecture, design, music, literature, film, and video games.

What we do…

Fiercely independent, we’re a small team of 80s Synth and Retro nerds whose nostalgic obsessions for what once was (and still is) keep us creating the coolest, most far-out, exclusive and original designs that bring the epicness of RetroFuturism to life! Working with internal and external artists to bring visual genres like Old school Scifi, Cult classics and Cartoons, Retro-gaming, RetroWave, Cyberpunk and Miami 80s back (to the future) on a whole range of Clothing and apparel.

This is what we live for! Alongside organising the UKs Premiere Retro Futurism and Synthwave (a genre of electronic music influenced by 1980s cult film and retro video game soundtracks as well as the synthesizer explosion of the early 80s engaging in RetroFuturism, emulating 1980s science fiction, horrormedia, Miami Vice and Cyberpunk) Festival, we all work tirelessly to make sure you are groovy with every single item of clothing, accessory or gift you buy.
